“For me, photography is all about observing and capturing a moment in a way that
lets you read a story behind the image”.
Already during her continued education in photography at NAIT, in Edmonton, Alberta,
Ellen discovered that the true challenge for her was catching images as they naturally
occur. As she felt she couldn’t realize that within the environment of a traditional
studio, she changed her style from conventional to journalistic photography. Even
in her studio photography she adds a journalistic touch. Whether she's photographing
newborns, kids, a family, or covering a wedding, her emphasis is on a more natural
approach, and "capturing a moment".
Ellen loves to work with Black and White photography.
“B/W photography strips away most of the unnecessary elements, and it focuses attention
on the basics. Besides that, it creates a certain, timeless atmosphere”.
Ellen works from her Sherwood Park studio. With her photography on location she
covers greater Edmonton/Sherwood Park and Calgary.
